There are holes in the base, making it easy to secure your sections into the soil or substrate below, and we highly recommend installing your structure on flat ground for the best results. What are the Brampton corner sections made of?All the modular planter sections in our range, including our Brampton corner sections, are made of 100% genuine, certified Corten steel, which is known for its corrosion-resistant (COR) properties and its enhanced tensile (TEN) strength. If you’re looking for something that will last even longer – for example, for commercial landscaping use – you may wish to order bespoke corner sections in thicknesses of up to 6 mm. Our expert team would be more than happy to discuss this with you and help you determine the most appropriate dimensions for your needs and expectations. In addition to making and supplying top-of-the-range modular planter sections, we also make a range of rustic patina steel modular sections. The rustic patina steel takes slightly longer to develop its unique colouration and, while it tends to be more cost-effective than Corten steel, may not be as longevous. How are Brampton Corten steel modular planter sections made?At Weather It, we take great pride in making all our products by hand, right here in the UK. We name our products after areas in the UK that are well known for their gardening and landscaping influence. Located in the heart of Cumbria, Brampton is filled with picturesque countryside and parks, with that idyllic inspiration going into every one of our Corten steel, modular planter corner sections. Our expert design team will first cut the steel using precise laser cutting tools, before using specialist machinery to apply folds to the sheet metal. They will then fix ribs to the back of the modular planter sections to give them greater structural support and create an easy way of fixing individual parts together.Unlike most other companies, which leave a steel edge or use a single fold, we make our Corten steel modular planter components with a double-folded return lip. This helps to:Create a much higher, premium finish that looks so much better than other alternatives.Add unbeatable strength and rigidity.Protect your hands when planting. Our modular corner sections are also fully seam-welded. Indeed, our craftsmen dedicate a lot of time and effort to smooth any joins, ensuring seamless joins and edge details. Once we’ve finished, you won’t even know where the welds are.Because our modular planter sections are handmade by professional artisans, each product is slightly unique, adding further charm to your landscape or garden. This is only enhanced by the beautiful, unique patina of the Corten steel itself. When will my order arrive? As our modular planters are all made by hand, there may be a short delay between placing and receiving your order, particularly if you have opted for custom sizes. We currently estimate a three-to-four-week waiting time, although we may be able to reduce this for those in more urgent need of our bespoke products. Simply get in touch with our sales team at – [email protected] – to discuss your unique requirements. We offer free UK deliveries on all our products, working with our trusted pallet and parcel couriers to ensure everything is safely received, as and when you expect it. Read our full delivery policy here for more information. How long will it take for my Corner Modular Planters to weather?Corten steel is designed to weather when it meets the outside air. The protective layer is best developed in climates where periods of wet weather are followed by dry spells, which are then followed by more rain. This makes UK gardens particularly suitable for our products. You can expect to see beautiful autumnal hues beginning to develop after just a matter of days. However, it may take anywhere between six to nine months for the full colour to develop. During this time, there may be a slight colour runoff, which could stain the surfaces that your planters and modular beds are placed on, so it’s important to be careful. The exact time that it takes for the protective layer on Corten steel – also known as weathering steel – to develop depends on your modular planter placement and local climate. Certain conditions, such as salty, coastal air, will cause your corner sections to weather faster. If you don’t want to wait, you can always opt for our pre-weathered range, instead. Unlike other metals and other materials like plastic and wood, it doesn’t need any paint, varnish, or other coatings. This is thanks to the natural coating it develops and is more than enough to keep your corner modular planters protected for years to come. Simply connect the sections of your modular planters, fill them with plants, and enjoy!Other things to note:As mentioned above, there may be a slight colour runoff as the natural patina of your Corten steel develops. This tends to be more prominent within the first one to six months. In addition to supplying un-weathered Corten steel for you to develop at home, we also supply pre-weathered products, allowing you to enjoy the rich red and deep orange tones almost instantly. All our straight modular sections come in 300 mm, 600 mm, and 1200 mm lengths as standard, whilst our corners come with 60 mm right angles. It is possible to combine these sizes to accommodate almost all gardening and landscaping projects. However, if you find yourself looking for bespoke measurements and sizes, give us a call at 0121 824 5700 to let us know the specifications you want. Please note that, although we accept made-to-measure requests, we may not be able to make any changes to your order once production has started.
