How do modular planters work? Our Corten steel modular planters are made up of three different types of sections:Straight sectionsInternal cornersExternal cornersYou can combine these sections as you wish to create bespoke raised beds of all shapes and sizes. Simply connect the sections together using the built-in bolt holes for modular planters that slot seamlessly together. The ribs on the reverse serve to provide additional strength without compromising the smooth finish that can be seen from the outside. We recommend installing our modular planters on flat, level ground for the best results. What are the Brampton modular planters made of?Both the straight sections and the corner sections in our Brampton modular planter range are made from 100% genuine Corten steel. Known for its unbeatable tensile strength and corrosion resistance, this durable material is guaranteed to last for years, maintenance-free, in your business grounds or home garden. We use structural-grade, 2 mm Corten steel as standard. However, we are also able to offer bespoke thicknesses of up to 6 mm for those of you looking for greater durability and longevity. Simply get in touch with our sales team at [email protected] to discuss your unique requirements. We would be more than happy to discuss things with you and help you decide on the best properties for your project. In addition to providing unrivalled longevity and weather resistance, choosing Corten steel introduces a range of natural, autumnal hues into your garden. From rich reds and deep browns to beautiful bronze tones offset with oranges, the patina that this wonderful material develops will be truly unique to your garden, as it is entirely dependent on the climate conditions and position of the location you choose. To find out more about the Pros and Cons of Corten steel, read our dedicated blog post. You might also wish to consider our Rustic Patina Steel products for a more budget-friendly option. How are the Brampton modular planters made?At Weather It, we take great pride in making all our Corten steel gardening products by hand, right here in the UK.We have our own team of dedicated artisans and designers at our West Midlands facility, who first use precision laser-cutting tools to cut the steel to your desired size as accurately as possible. They then use specialist equipment to add folds to the sheet metal, before finishing your products by hand. This includes carefully and skilfully fixing ribs to the back of each of our modular planter sections, in order to provide unrivalled structural support, whilst ensuring easy installation with parts that are easy to slot together. Most Corten steel planter products available on the market will be left with a raw steel edge or will perhaps be finished with a single fold. Because we take great pride in our craftsmanship, aiming to provide the highest possible quality in each and every one of our products, our artisanal team takes things one step further, adding a premium, double fold. This:Makes things look much cleaner, for a higher-quality finish.Adds further strength and rigidity for longer-lasting products. And helps to protect your hands from cuts or injury when planting. Each of our straight and corner sections are fully seam welded, which means that any join between sections is completely unnoticeable. Of course, because each section is made by hand, it will be ever so slightly unique, adding further charm to these already bespoke products. When will my order arrive?Because perfection takes time and we make our products by hand, there may be a wait between placing your order and having it delivered. This ensures that our expert craftsmen can dedicate the time and energy required to make a truly unbeatable product. We currently estimate wait times of between three to four weeks. However, if you need your planters sooner than this, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We’ll do all we can to deliver to you as quickly as possible. We offer free deliveries direct to your door in any location around the UK. We partner with a network of trusted couriers to ensure your fully tracked deliveries arrive safe and sound, whether you have a single parcel or a whole pallet of products. For more information on our delivery process, visit our dedicated delivery policy page. How long will it take for my Corten steel modular planters to rust?It all depends on where you place your planters and the local climate of the area you live in. The weathering process typically takes between six and nine months to complete – but may process faster in areas with high salt water (for example, near the coast). It must be noted that during the weathering process, you may experience a slight colour runoff, which could stain your gardens, patios, or driveways. This is less of a risk once your russet patina has fully developed. If you don’t want to wait for the transition to unique colouration, we also supply pre-weathered modular planter projects perfect for your garden. How do I maintain my Corten steel modular planters? One of the best things about Corten steel is that there’s no need to maintain it. It naturally develops its own protective layer, which means it doesn’t need to be waxed, painted, or varnished. Simply bolt your modular sections together as instructed, fill them with plants, and enjoy!Other things to note:As noted above, you may experience some colour runoff during the initial weathering stages. This will be most noticeable within the first one to six months, depending on how long your Corten steel takes to weather. In addition to selling un-weathered Corten steel that will develop a rust-like coating at home, we also sell pre-weathered products for an immediate colourful look. All our straight sections measure 1000 mm, 1500 mm or 0200 mm in length, whilst corner sections have a 500 or 1000mm right angle. Combinations of the above sizes should suit most gardens. However, if you require bespoke dimensions for your project, you can always speak to a member of our team at 0121 824 5700 to place your made-to-measure orders.Although we accommodate custom orders, we may not be able to make any changes to your products once we have started making them.
