Our team laser cut the Corten steel to ensure the design of the Tapered Planter is consistently replicated every time. We use the latest computer-aided machinery to apply the folds in the Corten steel sheets once cut. Our team is made up of the best, most qualified fabricators who complete the fabrication process by hand with immense pride. Unlike most products on the market, each Corten Steel Tapered Planter we produce has a double-folded return top lip feature, meaning it’s of much higher quality (and looks so much better), gives the planter increased strength and rigidity and it’s safer for customer’s hands when planting. All corners and connecting sides are fully seam welded, and with careful precision, we smooth the welds providing amazing corner and edge detail. You won’t be able to tell where the welds are! Because they are handmade by our expert fabricators, each Tapered Planter is unique, adding charm What is the planter made of?Made from 100% genuine, certified Corten Steel. Also known as Weathering Steel or COR-TEN steel. COR refers to the metal’s property of corrosion resistance. TEN denotes the metal’s tensile strength. We make our Corten Steel tapered Planter from structural grade, 2mm thick steel as standard. Corten Steel develops a unique and distinct patina when exposed to the elements. The Patina is beautiful and protective. The oxidised patina forms a barrier to slow down the oxidisation process which elongates the life of the material. The Patina develops the most beautiful warm, autumnal shades of orange, red, and brown over time. The beauty of this material is that the shades and colours of the patina depend on the climate and weather where the product is situated. So, you’re guaranteed to have a totally unique planter in your very own garden!Any custom sizes can be produced in up to 6mm steel depending on the intended use. We offer all our planters in Rustic Patina Steel & Corten Steel. Check out our blog post which compares Mild Steel and Cor-Ten Steel. How will my order arrive? With all orders tracked, our trusted network of nationwide pallet and parcel couriers will deliver your order to your door. Large orders and those with multiple products requested will be delivered via a pallet courier. Our lead times range from 3 to 4 weeks, but you can enquire if you require a shorter lead time. See our delivery policy for more information. How long will it take for the Corten Steel Tapered Planter to weather? This Corten Steel Tapered Planter is available in a raw steel finish as standard. If you order your planter pre-weathered, we’ve done the hard work for you. If not, no problem, the finish will start to develop a beautifully unique orange and brown patina in a matter of days and will continue to develop over a period of 6 to 9 months. The speed of the weathering process depends on factors such as Weather, Climate, and Proximity of the coast/ sea spray etc.Does the planter just sit on the ground? Hidden underneath the planter are fixed 15mm feet that keep it ever so slightly off the ground to give the planter a floating effect. This is not only aesthetically beneficial, but also practical for drainage. We also have customisable options including making any of our planters bottomless, so they are installed directly on the soil as a raised flower bed. Additionally, you can choose to add adjustable height legs or castors to the bottom of your planter. Contact our sales team ([email protected]) or call us on 0121 824 5700 to discuss your requirements. Can these Corten Steel Tapered Planters be used indoors? Of course, they can! These planters are more than suitable for indoor use in domestic and commercial environments. The planters do come with drainage holes, but these can be removed upon request. How do I maintain it? The beauty is you don’t have to! Unlike wooden or plastic alternatives no maintenance is needed. Just fill, plant and enjoy! Additional things to note Rainwater and watering can stain the surface the planter is placed on due to the ‘run off’ effect during the natural weathering process. This is usually more likely to happen during the first six months of the weathering process. We can deliver planters during various stages of the weathering process from new steel to the full patina. The patina on Corten steel planters will develop quicker than the rustic patina steel. All dimensions are in millimetres and in Bottom Square x Top Square x Height format. The difference between the bottom square and the top square over the height is the angle of the taper. Once production has started, we may not be able to accommodate requests or amends.
